Checking Out the Chokecherries toad Only one junco type remainsChokecherry trees (or shrubs) are one of my favorite native woody plants. Their flowers in spring are wonderfully aromatic and their edible fruits are a reliable draw for many different birds. In my yard, one of the primary chokecherry diners are the beautiful Black headed Grosbeaks. I painted this male bird as it perched on a chokecherry branch laden with berries in late summer.
