Mývatn, Skútustaðir - Sel '10 a fairly active volcano evenText on back of card: The pseudo craters (Sktustaaggar) and hamlet at Sktustair along the southern shore of Mvatn. The craters were formed about 2000 years ago when lava poured over marshland, super heating the water beneath. Lava burst through the solidifying crust to form cones. The lake is one of the largest in Iceland and is the seasonal home to a variety of birds. Str: 148 mm 5,8 in.
